Bresee: Beryl Gertrude
It is with sadness that the family of Beryl Gertrude Bresee announces her passing on Oct. 7, 2023, age 92 years. Beryl, daughter of Berton & Gertrude Chant, was born on Sept. 8, 1931, and raised on the family farm on the Thousand Acre Road, near Harlem, ON. She married Joseph Paul Bresee on Jan. 12, 1950 and together they farmed near Westport. Upon retiring in 1983 they moved to their home on Devil Lake (near Perth Road). Beryl was a loving devoted wife and mother. Her many interests included gardening, knitting, ceramics, stained glass, baking, hosting large family picnics, fishing and playing cards. Left to cherish her memory are her five children. Anne (Gordon) Ramsay, Woodstock, PEI; William (Elaine) Bresee; Westport, Brian (Anne Mitchell) Bresee, Perth Road; Charlene (George) Edwards, Brockville and Marsha (Mike) Doggett, Picton, her 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Her sister Kathleen Seward and sister-in-law Eva Denison, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by her husband Joe (in 2000), grandson John Edwards, great granddaughter Cassandra Lee and great-great grandson Ethan Pigion, also by her brothers Ronald, Stuart and Howard Chant. Family and friends will be received at the Lyons Funeral Home, Westport on Wednesday October 11, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral will be conducted Thursday October 12 at 11am in the Knox Presbyterian Church followed by a private family interment. Donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Cemetery.
