Obituary for Robert Weir

Robert (Bob) Hiscocks Weir

On January 30, 2023, Bob Weir died suddenly at home in Westport, On. He was nearly 75 years old.

Bob is going to be sorely missed by his wife Barbara (nee Geddes); his daughter Karen Weir (husband, Greg Enns); his grandson Keenan Enns; and his brother John Weir. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Robert Weir and Nora Weir (nee Hiscocks).

Bob was born in Toronto on February 2, 1948, and was raised in Guelph and Winnipeg. He graduated from the Ontario Agriculture College (OAC) at the University of Guelph in 1972 in Resource Management. Bob had a successful 35 year career with the Government of Canada and retired respectively as Chief and Director, Environmental Assessment and Compliance unit, Environment Division, at the Canadian International Development Agency.

During his working years, he was very involved with Scouts Canada as a Cub, Scout and Venturer leader, taking the boys and girls camping, canoeing and tripping.

When he retired, Bob and Barb moved to Westport, Ontario. He became a Lion and drove the mobility van, and he is remembered by his "clients" as very caring and willing to go the extra mile. He bought several boats and enjoyed them tremendously. He met several times a week with friends for coffee and enjoyed talking politics. He helped Barb in her activities and became known as Barb's House Elf. He is going to be missed very much.

We are taking a pause and will organize a celebration of life this spring in Westport.
