Obituary for Darlene Snider-Robbins (Kenny)

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Darlene Elizabeth Snider-Robbins (nee Kenny) on May 12, 2022 at the age of 64. Surrounded by her family, Darlene passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus. She embraced her faith throughout this challenging time with grace and dignity and leaves a lasting legacy for all to see.
Music was a huge part of who she was, and at the age of 12 she was asked to be the pianist for The Snider Family and began a journey of composing songs, recording albums and ministering in music across Ontario and into the U.S. She was the strong talented anchor for the band and they spent the next 30 plus years together doing the music they loved to do. Her songs included ‘As For Me And My House’, ‘Take Courage’ and ‘The Time Has Come’.
Darlene had so many incredible talents. She had the ability to make those around her feel empowered while encouraging countless young and old to play piano, guitar, bass and drums as they became part of the worship team at her church. She taught dozens of students piano as well as how to write their own music. Her artistic eye for design allowed her to be an integral part of ministry as she created everything needed to promote any event with class.
The greatest gift Darlene had was her God given gift of playing the piano. She would play with such beautiful humility during countless piano recitals, weddings, funerals and concerts. Everything Darlene did was done with excellence, and she amazed us over and over with her ability to play any song after hearing it once, transposing the key on the spot and hearing all the intricacies of the song to help put the song together.
Despite the many challenges that Darlene faced over the years, she remained strong in her faith, teaching us by example that no matter what comes our way, God is in control and is always there no matter what we are facing. Her greatest desire was for others to see Christ in her and to desire to come to know the Lord.
Darlene was born on February 13, 1958 to Dave and Elva Kenny of Brewers Mills, ON. She married the love of her life Don Snider on July 1, 1978 and they were blessed with 2 children, Derek and Melissa. They enjoyed 24 wonderful years together until the untimely passing of Don on Dec. 13, 2002.
Darlene was blessed to meet her new love and married Steve Robbins on August 10, 2019. It was a wonderful time and Steve brought new joy into her life.
Survived by her husband Steve, she was a devoted mother to Derek (Gabrielle) and Melissa (Scott Stott) and a loving Grandma to Abigail, Lydia, Anister and Liam. She was loved by Steve’s three children, their spouses and five grandchildren.
She leaves behind her loving mother Elva Kenny, her brother Mark (Carol), her nieces and nephews Lyndon (Keera), Jillian (Jordan Ruby), Braden (Becca), Keaton, Allyson (Jesse Lloyd ), Hudson and all the great nieces and nephews in the Kenny family. Predeceased by her father Dave Kenny and her youngest brother Philip.
Darlene will be greatly missed by all the Snider family.
